Albert Einstein said “ Try not to just become a man of success; rather become a man of value”. Our CEO Scott Hart talked about the value of “your dreams”. He finished his article with “as you pursue your dreams and aspirations, know it’s going to take some grit, drive and help from
family and friends. Lets Keep pressing forwa d with a big vision for our lives, our Fraternity and those we care for at Mooseheart and Moosehaven”. In our community, the Ames Moose has taken on challenges to help those we care about. Over the next couple of months we will be have programs and fund raisers for the Scouts and Veterans.

There will be changes coming from the 2025 convention. The biggest one is Section 50.2 Lodge Admission Policy. A spouse of a member is no longer an indefinite qualified guest. The language states that all qualified family members shall be considered a prospective member; and limited to two (2) visits before making membership applications. The resolution passed 72% of attendees voting for. So, keep that in mind for future reference.

Mooseheart Executive Director Gary Urwiler commented on the 13,000 young lives that have went to Mooseheart, with 6,000 attaining a diploma ready to take on the world. “Each Mooseheart student is a light in the darkness, bright and resilient filled with potential. That light doesn’t shine by accident. It shines because of the unwavering commitment from teachers, staff, family teachers and every Moose Member who has chosen to invest in their future.” This is something we can be proud of; our Ames Lodge’s commitment and contribution to Mooseheart. Also what our Lodge does for local students and families to enhance success in our young people. Again drawing from DaQuan Finley’s valedictorian speech; “we are the proof that commitment, perseverance and determination can help you get to the finish line…nobody can deny that effort is what landed us in these graduation chairs” There is a great opportunity to increase the effectiveness of our Lodge through the Women of the Moose (WOTM) chapter. Chancellor Barb McPherson reported at convention the relevance of the WOTM and the effect unification of this fraternity has had. “WOTM was organized in 1913 with the original sisterhood helping each other. Our mission today is even more important; to help others in need”. As a Lodge Board member, I am asking you to take time and thank the WOTM for what they contribute. Find out how you as a member of the Lodge help them grow and continue their mission.

Looking forward; your Lodge is now embarking on plans to bring new and exciting activities and events to the membership. Please remember to participate in these events and donate to the Moose Lodge. A big thank you for bringing new members into our Fraternity. We have a bright future in Ames to grow and help our local community, Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Enjoy our Social Quarters with fellow members, supporting our giving and above all have fun.
